CAT PEOPLE, ON your marks – a long-awaited ‘cat lounge’ is finally opening in Dublin next week.
The ‘cat café’ concept originated in Taiwan and has been adopted in cities all over the world, from London to Singapore to San Francisco.
Georgina O’Neill has been trying to get a cat café off the ground in Dublin for almost four years now - and Monday, it will finally open its doors in Smithfield.
Here are some of the little beauties you’ll be able to visit:
Dublin’s version is a ‘cat lounge’, rather than a café – there is no food sold on the premises, but you can have a cup of coffee or tea for yourself while you pet the cats.
The lounge currently has five kittens which O’Neill saved from a rather nasty fate. She told DailyEdge.ie:
They were handed in to a local vet to be euthanised. They have another litter in isolation which I will be taking, these have the same story!
I do intend to adopt the kittens out to the right people, and they will have to go through a similar process as they would with a charity.
It’s €15 to chill with the cats for an hour and a half, and you can book a spot here. A small price to pay for a wannabe cat-owner. We’ll see you there.
